With over 35 years of experience in addiction treatment, Michael Herbert is a highly

accomplished professional in the field. His expertise spans from intervention to aftercare,

making a positive impact on countless individuals and families.

Michael's international work has taken him to various parts of the world, including Behman

Hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where he taught addiction counseling. He also served as a consultant

for the Cairo American College and the Maadi Psychological Center, contributing to the

development of effective treatment approaches. In addition, Michael has devoted his time to

facilitating self-help groups in North Africa and engaging in prevention work in Cape Town,

South Africa.

On the domestic front, Michael has left an indelible mark on the addiction treatment landscape.

He has designed programming for the NY Theological Seminary for Children at Risk and the

Lawyers Assistance Program. His contributions to the New York City Police Department

Members Assistance Program (MAP) and The Dance Theater of Harlem have been invaluable.

As the program director of Inter-Care LTD in New York City, Michael has played a pivotal role in

providing comprehensive care to those in need. He has also lent his expertise to Columbia

Tri-Star Television as a trusted consultant.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael's achievements are equally

inspiring. At the age of 50, he embraced running and completed his first ultra-marathon,

covering an astounding 155 miles across the Sahara Desert. And at 61, he successfully

conquered Mount Kilimanjaro, demonstrating his unwavering determination and resilience.

Michael recognizes the importance of maintaining physical fitness and takes pride in being a

beekeeper in his spare time. He is also a devoted pet parent to two Basenjis.

A proud graduate of the Hoffman Process, Michael's passion for education and empowering

others led him to establish the nonprofit organization African Hopeful Horizons in 2023. Through

this initiative, he aims to provide educational materials and opportunities to students in remote

areas of Africa, making a lasting impact on their lives.
