As the founder of African Hopeful Horizons, my journey began with a profound encounter in the heart of the scorching Afar region of Ethiopia, specifically in the Logia community nestled near a lake and hot springs. Witnessing the resilience of the Logia people amidst the challenges of their harsh desert environment ignited a fire within me to make a difference.

During a visit to Logia in June 2023, I was struck by the devastation inflicted upon the village school by a severe dust storm. Moved by their plight, I made a solemn promise to return with aid for their school. Now, with the unwavering support of compassionate individuals, I am honored to fulfill that promise.

Haysema, the esteemed village leader, sees our return as a beacon of hope, a testament that they are not forgotten. Together, we share the belief that education is the cornerstone for uplifting the village out of poverty.

Inspired by the resilience and determination of the Logia people, we are not only repairing their school but also considering additional initiatives. Among them, a food program aims to address immediate needs for sustenance while complementing our educational endeavors. By nurturing both body and mind, we aspire to break the cycle of poverty and empower the Logia community to forge a brighter future.
